This primer project took place in the Gregynog Forest in mid-Wales. Using local timber I constructed a reading shelter that used no fixings, making it simple to assemble and completely biodegradable. The form is determined by the angle of the sun, allowing light in on the south side and shading the north so that moss and fungus have the chance to grow.
At different latitudes the shelter takes on different forms which change the internal environment. Alternative uses can be catered for by varying the lengths of elements and the notches cut into them.
